Mom and Dad visit J-ville!

This is the first year since Alex and I have been married that I have no plans to visit Ohio to see my family there. Luckily, Mom and Dad cannot go a whole year without seeing me, so they came down to visit this past weekend from Ohio. I'm so glad they came, and we had a great visit. We hit the beach on Saturday where Alex tried to teach Dad how to fish using cast nets.

Lack of fish in the area kept them from cast-netting for too long. Mom and Dad enjoyed the relief of the cool ocean water since it was in the 90s with over 90% humidity that day. Here is a picture of Mom and Dad. Try to avoid looking directly at Dad's glare-ificially white legs!

Mom and Dad got to try gator later that night at a St. Augustine restaurant called Aunt Kate's. Not sure Mom loved it, but it was actually pretty good as far as fried gator goes here in Florida. Sunday Mom and I schooled Dad and Alex in spades, and Monday, Alex and I introduced them to "chicken foot" dominoes. We also took a trip to old town St. Augustine on Monday, after which Dad wanted to go shopping (!) so we hit up the outlets there. I was sad to see them go on Tuesday morning, but I'm so glad they came down. Love you both!

Because we are now interesting

Alex and I announced in the last few weeks to our family and friends that we are expecting our first little Berger. Since then, I realize that we have become far more interesting because we have to talk about than work, tv and Alex's Halo 3 addiction. Thus, I will update the blog to keep y'all apprised of the developments with my pregnancy and the other (few) interesting things that we do.

Until I get a scanner and can upload pictures of the most recent ultrasound of Baby Berger, I will explain the title of the blog. I didn't feel like trying to come up with something related to our last name that would be available, plus, I don't like the Berger/Burger correlation, so I don't do plays on words with our last name. "A pony and a machine gun" is something that I knew no one else would come up with, because it is uniquely Alex J. Berger. Whenever I, or anyone else for that matter, asks Alex what he wants for any holiday or birthday, his standard answer is "a pony and a machine gun." My standard response is that he can't have a pony because I'd die (thank you severe allergy to horses). He can't have a machine gun because, well, no one has a machine gun and he would have no use for one. This is something he came up with before we met, I think. Sometime ago, I think there was a third thing: a side of beef. Again, something he will probably never have.

So here it begins, the memoir of the lives of two of the most boring people in the world (Alex and Erin), and the impending birth of a guaranteed-to-be-adorable Wilson-Berger offspring.
